NOMAC will act as the operation and maintenance contractor of two solar PV projects in Ethiopia, with a combined capacity equivalent to 250 MW. This is ACWA and NOMAC’s first round of projects in the country, as part of the public-partnership programme under the World Bank Group ‘Scaling Solar Initiative. The new plants will be located in Dicheto, in the Afar region, and in Gad, in the Somali region of the country with 125 MWac in capacity for each. The solar projects are expected to supply power to 750,000 homes & offset 320,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
