Management Team

Stefan Verlee was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of First National Operations and Maintenance Company (NOMAC) in July 2022.

A professional engineer with over 25 years’ experience in operation and maintenance, Stefan previously served as Executive Vice President of NOMAC, leading the expansion of the international business since 2017 in providing safe, reliable, and cost-effective power and water to the communities we operate in while being fully engaged in the energy transition.

Prior to joining NOMAC, Stefan worked with Engie, a leading energy company focused on energy transition, electricity and water generation, distribution, and services.

He oversaw the operation and maintenance activities of large-scale power and water projects in various continents, most recently as Chief Operating Officer of ENGIE Power and Water Middle East.

Stefan holds a master’s degree in electro-mechanical engineering from the University of Leuven (Belgium) and an MBA in European Utility Management from Jacobs University of Bremen (Germany).

Mashhour joined ACWA Power in 2017 and has since held various positions within the organization. He brings with him a wealth of banking and corporate finance experience, having spent ten years in KSA's banking industry before joining ACWA Power.

Mashhour has participated in several key initiatives, including IPO and Galvanize restructuring, and currently transitioned to his new role as BU O&M CFO starting from May 2023.

Mashhour has a bachelor's degree in Finance and Banking, and we are confident that his expertise and leadership skills will help drive growth and success for BU O&M.

Matt joined NOMAC as Vice President in 2019.  He has worked in the power and petrochemical industry for over 20 years with the last 14 in the international arena.

He is a Chartered Engineer in UK and Member of the Energy Institute.  In addition to his Engineering background, he holds a Master of Business Administration from Warwick Business School in the UK. 

Khalid Alowaidh is the current Executive Vice President for NOMAC O&M Gulf Region, a leading O&M provider which is 100% owned by ACWA Power.

Mr. Alowaidh, has over 31 years’ experience in the power generation and water desalination sectors.

Throughout his career, he held several Executive positions in major companies such as   Saudi Electricity Company. He previously served as Executive Managing Officer of JWAP after which he joined Hair Company as Executive Managing Officer.

Mr. Alsubhi joined NOMAC in 2015, a leading O&M provider which is 100% owned by ACWA Power.

Sultan has over 23 years’ experience in managing and operating Water and Power plants.  Having worked in several Utility companies he has gained extensive expertise throughout his career.

He is a highly qualified and established leadership management professional with a track record in maintenance, operation and projects management known to substantially increase profit margins by applying high-end management tools. 

Sultan Alsubhi holds an MBA degree and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering having also graduated with honor from King Fahad University of Petroleum and Minerals.

He is a strong promotor of People development and localization.

Anthony brings over 25 years’ experience attained globally in the sectors of power generation, oil & gas, and other heavy industries across a range of business units including project development, engineering, and asset management.

He currently serves as Executive Vice President & Africa Regional Head of O&M.

Prior to joining NOMAC in August 2022, Anthony occupied the position of Vice President & Head of Project Execution, responsible for the global portfolio of ACWA Power IWPP related to conventional CCGT, renewable technologies (CSP, PV & Wind), desalination projects as well as special giga projects such as NEOM hydrogen and the Red Sea diversified utility projects.

Anthony holds a Master of Science degree from the UK based Salford University. He is also a Government Certified Electrical Engineer in South Africa.

Mr. Schmit is a Mechanical Engineer with 22 years’ worldwide experience in the fields of planning, management and execution of outages and turnarounds on critical rotating and static equipment in Oil & Gas, Power, and heavy industries.

He has a proven track record as entrepreneur in the global industrial maintenance sector.

Harald joined NOMAC, a leading O&M provider which is 100% owned by ACWA Power as VP of Field Services after the acquisition of NMES by NOMAC in 2018.

Fazle Moyeen is an Energy industry professional with over thirty years’ experience who has held several leadership positions in Business Development, Acquisitions & Mergers, O&M, Re-powering, Engineering, Commissioning & Start-up.

He has evolved in a multi-cultural environment and acquired through the years, a successful track record in Power, Combined Heat & Power, Desalination projects as well as thorough expertise across Asia, Middle East, Africa, and Europe in a diverse range of technologies including fossil fuel, solar PV, Onshore Wind, Energy Storage, Giga City, and power element of Green Hydrogen.

Moyeen has been leading the Business Development function at NOMAC since October 2018.

Prior to that, he occupied several leadership roles at ENGIE including Head of Performance, Asset & Digital in London, and oversaw several Business units globally: Executive Managing Director of an IWPP asset in Bahrain, Vice President of Engineering Technical Support Group leading business development projects across MENA region in Dubai, Head of operating assets in the GCC. He has also worked for Enron in its operating portfolio and for General Electric as Technical Advisor for Asia Pacific region.

Fazle Moyeen holds degrees in the field of engineering and technology.

Shyamsunder is an Electrical Engineer with post-graduation MBA in Operations Management and has over 27 years’ experience.

He has occupied several positions in the supply chain sector such as global sourcing, contracts, procure to pay cycle, vendor management, logistics management, multi-location warehouse management, SC digitalization, new supply chain operations set ups and inventory management.

Throughout his career, he has gained extensive experience in the Power and Water industry, desalination plants, O&M, manufacturing, and projects.

Mr. Shyamsunder joined NOMAC in 2016 and currently leads the Global Supply Chain for NOMAC and Procurement for ACWA Power Corporate.

He has played a pivotal role in setting up a sustainable and growth aligned supply chain organization within NOMAC imbedding it with a continuous improvement culture.

Prior to joining NOMAC he held the position of Director Supply Chain at Alstom Middle East and India.

Dr. Lana El Chaar is the current Vice President of the Center of Excellence at NOMAC a leading O&M provider which is 100% owned by ACWA Power.

Lana has been leading the implementation of a strategic transformation portfolio to drive operational efficiencies, whilst supporting NOMAC’s and ACWA Power’s growth objectives. 

Prior to joining NOMAC, Lana was affiliated with multinational companies and academic institutions where she led the digital services and focused on research and publications respectively. 

Dr. Lana is the recipient of the ‘Women in New Energy Award 2022’ Technology leader of the Year” awarded by First view Intelligent Business.  

Lana graduated in Electrical Engineering, Power electronics and received her BSEE, MSEE and Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, USA.

Hari Ramasubramanian currently serves as the Head of internal audit for First National Operations and Maintenance Company (NOMAC), a leading O&M provider which is 100% owned by ACWA Power.

Hari has been part of the leadership team of NOMAC since August 2019.

An internal audit professional with over 24 years’ experience, he has been pivotal in establishing a strong internal audit function within the O&M Business Unit.

Prior to Joining NOMAC, Hari was Head of Internal control function for Ford Motor Company Asia Pacific.

Over the past two decades he has gained extensive experience in auditing and related activities working with Big 4 Accounting firms, automotive industry, retail, finance leasing, and Insurance companies across the Middle East, China, and India.

Hari holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce and is a Chartered accountant from India (ICAI), a Certified internal auditor (CIA) from the United States. He has also obtained a certificate in internal audit from ACCA, UK.
